What I'm missing right now is Zupas. I think it's just a Utah thing (and I live in Pittsburgh). But their Paninis are amnziag, their salads are creative, and their soups are so good- heck, I'd drive an hour to eat there right now!

Where I live in Italy we can't get Wonder bread or cheddar csehee. However, I live in Piemonte not too far from the little town of Bra where they produce Bra Duro, a fantastic csehee similar to cheddar, but it puts most cheddar to shame.I made this sandwich for lunch using Bra Duro and sliced Ciabatta bread made with your no knead recipe. Fantastic!

Ever thought of using mayo on your bread? One of my fenirds told me that her grandmother spreads mayo on the bread before grilling it so it gives it a more rich flavor. Just a thought. I've never tried it so i don't know how it tastes, but my friend swore she's never had better tasting grilled cheese than her grandma's but of course it could be her being a bit bias.

Hi Caity! Congrats to you and the new hubby! The top 3 restaurants we've been to here are Searsucker, Lou & Mickeys, and Oceanaire. You might have seen my rveeiw about Searsucker; it's definitely the trendiest of the bunch. If you're looking for something more low key, I suggest a gastropub called the Knotty Barrel. Unfortunately, I can't help much with the hotel but I think you're smart to look for something in the Gaslamp Quarter or East Village, which is right next to it and an easy walk to 5th street where most of the shops and restaurants are. If you have some extra time here, check out seal beach in La Jolla or Old Town San Diego. Hope you guys enjoy the trip, and happy birthday!

Yuck ! What you describe from Hershey Lodge is NOT a grliled cheese. It's an Apple Brie Sourdough sandwich.A grliled Cheese sandwich is what it is. People should feel free to eat any grliled sandwich they want but don't call it a Grilled Cheese in the historical sense.Would you take some chopped steak then add Cheddar or Brie, asparagus, red peppers and Oregano then call it a Philly Cheesesteak ? No you'd call it a Veggie Steak sandwich or something else. But you can't take a classic sandwich, switch all the ingredients and then sill call it that classic name !
